Expanded Library Hours

The regular hours of the Library have been expanded. The Library will now open weekday mornings at 7:45 a.m. instead of 8:30 a.m. In addition, the Library will remain open on Friday nights until 7:00 p.m. instead of 6:00 p.m. Thank you!

Full-Text Dissertations

One place to locate full-text dissertations in the fields of Business, Education, and Psychology is the Proquest database via LIRN. Dissertation content is available for the years spanning 2000 through 2005.

To find them, you expand "More Search Options" at the bottom of the screen and then pick Dissertations as your publication type. It lists the issuing university as the publisher.

Academic Search Complete is the world's most valuable and comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,300 full-text periodicals, including 4,400 peer-reviewed journals. Education Research Complete is the definitive online resource for education research. Topics covered include all levels of education from early childhood to higher education, and all educational specialties, such as multilingual education, health education, and testing. Education Research Complete provides full text for more than 750 journals, and includes full text for more than 100 books and monographs, and for numerous education-related conference papers.

Library Printing

Printing is now free in the Library! All Library computers now print for free. Please note that the default printer is the Library's, but students can change printers to go upstairs to the labs, including the color printer. AND, there are new computers in the Library. These new computers are PCs and MACs. Please help us keep printing free by using the copy machine for multiple copies and only printing necessary documents. Thank you!

The current subscription code for CORBIS is good until 10/31/07. The limit for high resolution images is 125. This limit is a total limit until 10/31/07. Please plan accordingly. Also, please remember that Ai students have an unlimited amount of medium and standard resolution images.

Coming summer 2007: the Library has ordered several DVD series concerning globalization. Life tackles the issue of gloablization and its effect on ordinary people in countries throughout the world. City Life examines the effects of globalization on people and cities worldwide. Life III continues the discussion. Life IV highlights the UN Millennium Development Goals. Life V continues the discussion of the UN Millennium Development Goals. There are 104 DVDs in the entire series.

Grove Art Online

Attention The Art Institute of Tampa faculty: Oxford University Press and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) are delighted to announce that Grove Art Online (www.groveart.com) and MoMA will share educational resources online. Beginning in September 2007, the newly redesigned Grove Art Online will offer special MoMA learning resources created by MoMA’s Education Department. These MoMA learning resources offer dozens of lesson plans on interesting topics, including modern architecture, design, performance art, collaborative practice, portraiture, art and movement, and more. Each unit and lesson plan includes MoMA images, lesson objectives, discussion topics, activities, and suggested Grove Art Online readings curated by the MoMA Education Department.

Art Institute of Tampa students should take special note: the current CORBIS subscription code will last until October 31, 2007. The current 100 high-resolution down-load limit is for the entire time period. Students will no longer have to ask for a new subscription each term.

Database of the Month

PapersFirst -- An index of papers presented at conferences worldwide. This is a great source of academic information not found in journal databases. While not full-text, there are more than 2.3 million records. PapersFirst covers every published congress, symposium, conference, exposition, workshop and meeting received by The British Library Document Supply Centre. Some papers can be found in journal articles. Some items can be retrieved from the organizing association.

Argosy University/Tampa Library Card Reimbursement

Argosy University/Tampa students can purchase a Library borrower's card from the University of South Florida for $50.00 per year. Please bring your receipt to the Library for reimbursement qualification. Other academic libraries can be utilized with this program. However, the libraries must be approved by John Davies before reimbursements can be accepted.

Library Voyager Update

During the week of April 25 - May 2, 2007, the Library's management system, Voyager, along with the catalog will be offline. This is due to a system update. During this time, no items can be checked out of the Library. The Library will remain open during normal business hours. Beginning Thursday, May 3, 2007, the Library should be back to full circulation services (check-outs).
